• Boys Gymnastics Varsity

Long Island City High School is one of the original schools to participate in the PSAL Varsity Boys Gymnastics Program over fifty years ago. Since then, LIC has had a terrific record of success. As a team, they have won the PSAL Team Championship a record 13 times, leading the City in Team Championship titles in Boys Gymnastics The team won 12 championships under Coach Ken Achiron, and again 2018 under Coach Anthony Petrocelli. Currently, the Head Coach is Louis Petrocelli, and the Assistant Coach is Anthony  Petrocelli. The season begins November 1, generally finishing the first week of March.

AT Long Island City HS, the coaches encourage all interested boys to come out for gymnastics: With a large team, we are more likely to find the Champions among us. All they need is training. As proof of that, the city Championships that we won in 2012-2013-2014 and 2018 were won by teams consisting of boys who were high school gymnasts only, without club experience. In addition, throughout the years, Long Island City has produced 8 Iron Horse/Wingate award winners, annually given to the top senior athlete in each sport by the PSAL.
