    IMPORTANT UPDATE RE: Parent Teacher Conferences

    Parent Teacher Conferences are postponed. Families can reach out to teachers through PupilPath or the teacher’s Department of Education email listed on our school’s website. Families can reach out to school staff regarding academic progress and remote learning opportunities.


    January 31st, 2020

    Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Members of our LIC Community,

    Please be advised that in addition to students using their ID cards to swipe into the building at entry, they will also use their ID cards to swipe out. Using their ID cards in order to Swipe out at dismissal will begin Monday, February 3rd, 2020. Students must carry Long Island City High School issued student identification cards at all times and will need their ID card to swipe out. If lost, students must obtain a replacement ID card, from Assistant Principal Politis in Room 142.

    Parents and guardians can choose to be notified when their children swipe into and out of the building. This notification can be through email, text message or both. If you want to receive a text message, please contact Ms. Maria Cancemi, mcancemi2@schools.nyc.gov ; Ms. Awatef Ibrahim, aibrahim3@schools.nyc.gov Parent Coordinators for registration. Please note that this system is merely a notification system when students swipe in or swipe out of the building. Official attendance is taken by classroom teachers and will be reflected the next day in Pupil Path.

    Please be advised that all visitors will be asked to wait outside the building until student dismissal is completed. Please see below for the 2019-2020 bell schedule for dismissal times for Period 8, Period 9, and Period 10:

    Period 8 official bell schedule dismissal times MTRF - 2:49pm; W - 2:01pm
    Period 9 official bell schedule dismissal times MTRF - 3:39pm; W – 2:50pm
    Period 10 official bell schedule dismissal times MTRF - 4:29pm; W – 3:39pm

    Dear Parents/Guardians:

    Parent Teacher conferences will take place on Thursday afternoon and evening, November 21, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Families are strongly encouraged to attend and have a conversation with your child’s teachers about your child’s progress in school.

    Report Cards information will be distributed during Parent-Teacher Conferences according to your child’s SLC (Smaller Learning Community) as follows:

    AWE (Official Class beginning with the letter D) Room 213
    CUL (Official Class beginning with the letter E & K) Room 585
    HUC (Official Class beginning with the letter B & C) Room 127
    LANG (Official Class beginning with the letter A & H) Room 548

    Please note that attendance on November 21st for students is mandatory. Students will follow the modified schedule below:

    • Per. 2: 8:15 — 8:50
    • Per. 3: 8:53 — 9:28
    • Per. 9: 9:31 — 10:06
    • Per. 10 10:10 — 10:45
    • LUNCH 10:50 — 11:30

    In order to further support our students academically in and out of school, we look forward to working with our families to strengthen our shared understanding of our children’s learning.

    Conferencias de padres y maestros se van hacer en la tarde y en la noche del jueves, 21 de noviembre 2019 1:00pm -3:00 pm y 5:00pm -8:00prn. Las familias son fuertemente avisadas a asistir y tener una conversación con los profesores de su hijo sobre el progreso de su hijo en la escuela.

    Distribución de Tarjetas de Reporte se distribuirá durante las conferencias de padres y maestros de acuerdo a SLC (La Comunidad de Aprendizaje) de su hijo de la siguiente manera:

    AWE (Clase Oficial empezando con la letra D) Habitación 213.
    CUL (Clase Oficial empezando con la tetra E y K) Habitación 585.
    HUC (Clase Oficial empezando con la letra B y C) Habitacion 127.
    LANG (Clase Oficial empezando con la letra A y H) Habitación 548.

    Tenga en cuenta que la asistencia el 21 de noviembre para los estudiantes es obligatoria. Los estudiantes seguiran este horario modificado:
