3/15/2024: Tonight at 7:00 PM is our evening performance of Mean Girls Jr.. Click here to see the flyer and QR code, or see the calendar for more information. We ask that all that wish to participate scan the QR code and complete the brief survey by 12:00 PM today. Please note that we have been informed that there is ALSO a funeral in the church next door on Friday, March 15 for long-time NYCHA Queensbridge TA President April Simpson. We have been informed that NYPD will be closing the street in front of the building starting at 3:00 PM for this funeral, so families wishing to attend the event tonight may not be able to park near the school and portions of the sidewalk will be closed. Officers and school staff will be on hand to help foot traffic in and out of the building.

3/11/2024: Due to sustained, high winds, we are currently experiencing problems with the scaffolding on the school. Necessary parties have been notified, and emergency crews are working to secure the scaffolding. Out of an abundance of caution, we have canceled outside activities on the field for the rest of the day. This does NOT present a danger to the students and staff inside the school, so therefore we are NOT evacuating the building.

2/13/2024: Due to inclement weather, NYC school buildings are closed today, February 13, 2024. All classes will occur online and students should follow their bell schedule and sign in to heir Google Classrooms for every class as attendance will be taken.

6/27/2023: Students scheduled for summer school are receiving their schedules during the 3rd period class today, and copies will also be mailed to addresses on file. The first day of Summer School is Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Please click here for the bell schedule for summer school classes. As stated in the 4/27/2023 announcement, Summer School Classes will take place at Academy of American Studies.

6/9/2023: We are excited to announce that school buildings are open starting Saturday, June 10, 2023. All previously scheduled programs and initiatives over the weekend will be taking place in the building including, but not limited to, Saturday Tutoring (click me for more tutoring info). Regular in-person classes will resume Monday, June 12, 2023.

6/8/2023: Due to Air Advisory concerns and out of an abundance of caution, the DOE has closed all school buildings (click me). 4/27/2023: SUMMER SCHOOL 2023 UPDATE ~ Due to the ongoing construction project for our building, Long Island City High School will be closed over the Summer of 2023. Summer programs, including classes for students who need to make up credits, will instead be taking place at the Academy of American Studies. We encourage all students to take advantage of the Tutoring Options (click for more info) available during the school year now rather than need to make-up work over the summer. 

4/20/2023: We are excited about our partnership with NYU Langone and want to remind students and families that our School-Based Health Clinic (SBHC) is open in 546. See the flyer in English and Spanish, or visit the SBHC Page for more information.

3/30/2023: On Monday, April 3, 2023 LICHS is excited to offer two opportunities for parents of current students to meet with and talk to the Principal, Vivian Selenikas. From 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM, we will be offering Breakfast with the Principal. Starting at 4:30 PM we will be having our April PA Meeting. In an effort to increase family, student, and teacher responses for the 2023 NYC School Survey, the DOE has extended the deadline to administer the survey to April 20 (extended from March 31). There's still time to make your voice heard! Parents and guardians are asked to take a moment to fill out the NYC School Survey. Please see the 2023 School Survey Page for more information. Eligible students who did not fill out their surveys in class on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, can still access and complete their survey online.
